House Tour (Previous Owner)

Well, it's 12:30 on Friday night and we are just getting home from a long night of home improvement.  I wanted to go ahead and post the before pictures because I am so tired I can't sleep.  Ugh.

These are pics of the house, as we first saw it, with the previous owners decor.  Enjoy!

Den with lovely wood panelling

The stairs covered in dark green carpet

One view of the kitchen with panelling.  Side Note:  The previous owner seriously took me aside and showed me how careful she had been with the panelling and asked me to take care of it.  If she only knew what I had planned!

Now, I am off to try to go to bed!  Hopefully, we will make a lot of progress on the Master Suite this weekend.  I'll be back with progress pictures!

Let's Try This Again...

Once upon a time, I tried to start a blog...and I was awful at it.

I read a ton of blogs.  From friends, from family, from acquaintances, from people I don't even know! I love to read about everyone else's life, but didn't think mine was really interesting enough to blog about. I am also really hesitant, and a little sketched out, about putting personal information of any sort online because you just don't know about the crazies in this world.

So why am I trying blogging again?  Simple.  I now have something interesting (to me) to blog about.  My house renovation/decoration!

I am especially interested in home renovation blogs, particularly now that I have a home to renovate.  My favorite home renovation blog can be found here.  I am obsessed with these people (but not in a scary way).  They are so savvy!

The husband and I are not tackling major demolition projects with this house (it had great bones!), but we are doing a lot of  things to bring our 1960s home into this century.  This blog is going to be my personal scrapbook of that process.  If no one but my mom reads this, I would be perfectly fine with that.  If others want to join in, you are more than welcome!

Another thing that I am going to use this blog for is to document decorating our first home.  Since we have been living a gypsy lifestyle for the last two years, I have refrained from buying anything for our home.  The thinking behind that was it would make my husband happy not be smart to buy furniture for a home or apartment I was only going to live in for a few months. So now, I have to start from square one.  I'll be bargain hunting, and sometimes splurging, on a lot of big ticket items.  So maybe you'll find something you like too!

I am really going to try to be diligent about keeping this updated with a lot of photos and details.  I keep telling myself this is a process and you don't have to get one thing done every day.  If I can get one thing done every month,  I'll be happy!

Everyone says that if your marriage can survive a home renovation, than you are in good shape. We will soon see about the Malatestas!  Next post will have a ton of house before pictures-so coming soon!
